![]() ![]() I'm definitely going to check out their other work. Would have loved to see Lore have a chance to dig into more of that if they wanted to. I wish this series had kept going, because there's a lot of good stuff in here about agency, free will, who gets recognized as a person, family, police, etc. I enjoyed the storyline about Daher's investigation - which uncovers secrets! - but my appreciation for this book had as much to do with Daher's interactions with her ex-wife (they split because Daher's a workaholic) and their fantastic daughter. The story follows Inspector Judge Daher, a queer woman of color, as she investigates a figment who's manifested as a young woman, escaped from the dreams of a wealthy conservative white politician's son. ![]() Government employees called Inspector Judges are assigned to track down escaped "figments" and assess whether they should be reinserted into the dream, or granted the right to stay in our world. ![]() Clearly, my "books I need" radar isn't working as well as I'd like! Queen of Bad Dreams takes place in a futuristic society where dream characters can escape from people's minds. ![]() I'd somehow missed this sci-fi graphic novel with a queer and diverse cast, written by a queer black creator, until it popped up at my library. ![]()
