While Onestar is doing what he thinks is best for himself, and his own reputation, he's horrendously selfish and cowardly. Leopardstar did what she thought was good for her clan but obviously went about it in a terrible way. While Onestar straight-up knows what he's doing is wrong, deludes himself, and somehow is still given everything on a silver platter, why? There are so many outside forces trying to justify his actions, when they aren't justifiable in the least, and are just downright stupid, hunh? Combine this with the god-awful pacing, it just comes off as a jumbled butchered mess of an SE, I feel like this book will be such a headache to read word for word later. And rightfully so she is punished by the story along the way for her terrible choices when they come back to bite her. She genuinely thought what she was doing was right, even if it was morally awful, and it was not sugarcoated. And Leopardstar's character didn't make excuses in the narrative. Like, say what ya want about LH, but at least it was consistent, and the pacing was good for the limited time period it had.
